If this 8HP EGS, then it has SK (128 bits) not ISN.
Is it showing you the EGS status? like: EWS stored in EEPROM, EWS active...?
Or it shows a message like: EGS not supported?

In DME ISN, please check ISN Mode.
If ISN mode is: Read/Write, then you are lucky today.
You return the ISN back to CAS (original ISN), then go to DME ISN, and Write this ISN into DME.
All will be ok.
I think if this DME is not MSD85, then it will be read/write.

I did a E70 few days ago, with used DME, worked out well.
You must go to service functions first, and do a EGS-EWS reset then you change the ISN in CAS..
Once it starts and drive
Go back to service functions then do EGS-EWS learning
