Hi !

I have a CAS 3 I need to read the ISN from on the bench.

I wired up the unit as per this wiring schematic :
UserPostedImage
and apply power (The software read 12.2V)
When I select option [2] Read/write CAS ISN
I get an error message saying "Error in communication with module"

I tried with 2 good known working CAS unit, same error

Anything I'm doing wrong ?

You must supply pin 1 of cas with 12v. Diagram is incomplete 🙂

You do not need to pin 1

I was using the Tricore adapter.

I re-did the wiring manually on my breadboard this morning, supplying the CAS with 12v direct and jumped the can H & L to the CAS from the MBD pins of the usb-obd without success.

I then jumped the 2 grounds from the USB-OBD to the power supply and got a reading.

It just crossed my mind, but how come such information isn't in a autohex wiki yet ?
I have such a wiki already for my own business... make everything 1000x easier to get sucessfully repeatable result.

on our tricore cable power is taken from pin no 1 that means all red wires get power from pin 1,it will be useful for only isn boot mode.In case of connecting CAS or DME on bench you need power from pin 16,so either you should make your own wiring harness or need to make some modification for our tricore cable.the wiring diagram for cas3 and tricore cable modification is attached together. CAS3.png You have insufficient rights to see the content. cable modified 3.jpg You have insufficient rights to see the content.

For hardware 4 users they can use their Tricore cable for on bench reading without any modifications.
ISN boot mode - Orange(CAN L) & Yellow (CAN H)
On bench CAS - Green (CAN L) & Blue (CAN H)
On Bench DME - Brown (CAN L) & White (CAN H)

First check the autohex cable maybe somethink wrong , take multimeter in your hand and go, if with cable everythink ok try connect another CAS and you will see will be communication or no.

Yes, tested with 4 different cas, it will fork fine on the car, just when I want to downgrade cas on the car, hanged on erasing flash and cas is dead
