hello to everybody i am trying to change mileage in e90 combi. I am using the clip set to read the eeprom chip i can only read the file when i am trying to write nothing happens
error ( failed to unlock chipset ref 943).

Of course,but when I am using it in e46 clusters I have no problem writing.

Could it be M35080 v3 Vs v6 Vs VP differences in incremental area protection...

the E46 earlys ones have M35080v3, so you can write without problem.
after that and rest of BMW/Mini have M35080v6 or vp and need to erase first before can write.

need a eraser to erase the first 2 rows before you can write the M35080

desolder put in socket all ok..

Some of the behave like that. That time this happened the chip died while writing. I can still read it and write it but custer does not work.

As for erasing, why cant we just FF the bytes that the eraser erases? What is special about an eraser?

Any why cant we have eraser capability in hextag?

Because mate ... the increment registers start at 00 00 00 when erased so FF FF would max them out 🙂

Google Increment erasing on eeproms .. see what you come up with .
